The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Slovakia, Miroslav
Lajcak, visited Albania and expressed his optimism about the European
path of Albania. However, he said, most of this work is up to Albania.
“You will have many reforms that need to be closed. I can say from the experience of my country that these reforms are not easy. But it is worthy, and you will see by the end that these efforts will bring good results, because the life of the Albanian citizens will be improved. This should be above any other interest, even political ones. I want to encourage all state and non-state actors to work for a faster progress of Ablbania towards the EU. I also value the return of the opposition in Parliament, because Parliament is the only place for discussions in Euroepan democracies”, Lajcak declared.
The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, declared that they need more economic cooperation between the two countries and added that thanks to the support of Slovakia, the Western Balkan Fund will soon be established in Albania.
“In the last meeting of the Vishegrad countries, under the rotating leadership of Slovakia, as we have made public, was finalized the decision for the creation of the Western Balkan Fund, the first regional initiative which unites the Western Balkan countries. Its headquarters will be in Tirana. I want to thank the Vishegrad countries, especially Slovakia and my friend Lajcak, for the support and patience shown in the generation of consensus within Western Balkan countries for having the headquarters in Tirana. We also had the chance to discuss the steps that we will take, so that the Fund headquarters becomes operational, keeping in mind the successful model of cooperation of the Vishegrad countries for the Western Balkan countries. In this case, we also had the chance to discuss about the latest developments in the region”, declared the Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati,
