Kukes-Durres highway toll fee damages Kosovo’s city of Prizren

The toll fee on the Nation’s Road also affects many citizens and businesses in Prizren, Kosovo’s closest city to the highway.
The Mayors of Kukes and Prizren met this Friday to discuss the new toll fee, which, according to them, removes the entire mission of the road that is called exactly “the Nation’s Road”.
“I appeal the governments of Kosovo and Albania to sit down and find a better solution. I support businesses in Kosovo, who were not prepared for this situation”, said Bashkim Shehu, Mayor of Kukes.
“I think that this is a very high fee that is not in the best interest of Albania and Kosovo. It discourages free movement for economic cooperation. I support the Kukes Mayor, who are right to demand a review of this fee”, said Myhater Haskuka, Mayor of Prizren.
Kukes merchants also reacted. They will close their businesses this Saturday to attend the protest that will be held at the Thirra tunnel.
