The toll fee for Kukes citizens on the Nation’s Road will be 100 ALL (0.8 EUR) per single passage, although at first it was discussed that the price would be 1.5 EUR.
The financial effect will be considerable, reducing the revenues with millions of EUR, which will not be paid by the private concession, but by the state budget.
The Durres-Kukes fee was initially decided to be 5 EUR for single passage. The contract foresaw easier measures for residents, but only after six months, when they were identified.
This caused an uproar among citizens, who protested and burned down the toll cabins.
After the protest, the government started discussing with the concessionary and agreed for a new formula, while the company is working to rebuild the damaged tolls.
