The Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Kotzias, referred to the relations with Albania in an interview he had with a radio in Greece.

Kotzias criticizes the New Democracy opposition party about its tones regarding Tirana and Ankara, and underlines that the Greek Foreign Policy should be unified.

As for the declarations of the opposition leader, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who said that Albania will not become part of the EU with its actions, Kotzias said it is unacceptable.

“These things are done through serious diplomatic actions only. I want to remind the New Democracy that they made Albania a NATO member without any condition”, Kotzias declared.

The former Greek Foreign Minister also said that Albania’s most rational, most mature and most serious Foreign Minister so far, Ditmir Bushati, left his duty not because he had been leading the ministry for very long, but because he didn’t agree with the border division of Kosovo, Kotzias declared.

“The second reason I think he was removed was that we had made efforts to create a package of agreements which had been completed, but there were two problems. One problem from the Albanian side, which didn’t have a Constitutional Court to certify the changes, and another reason is that Greece also has a fundamentalist segment that doesn’t want to admit that the war between Albania and Greece, which happened many decades ago, is now over.
