The Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos KOtzias, was summoned in an interpellation by the New Democracy regarding the recent talks with his Albanian counterpart, Ditmir Bushati. Kotzias declared that the talks did not include the Cham case.
Kotzias declared that the talks focused on bilateral matters that have been suspended for the last 70 years. He noted that there has been substantial progress in the efforts to find a stable solution for the best of both countries and their citizens, and by fully respecting European rules and values.
He underlined that there is visible improvement in the Albanian-Greek relations, which is result of the open dialogue between both parties, and which is now proven by concrete acts.
In this context, he refers to the stance of the Albanian government as regards the cemetery for Greek soldiers killed in Albania, and especially the passing of two executive laws regarding the agreement of 2009.
Kotzias rejected accusations from Greek conservatories about a hidden diplomatic agreement between Tirana and Athens.
The Greek Foreign Ministry also released a declaration in which they strongly rebuke declarations of Albanian officials who said that the Cham case was involved in the talks between Greece and Albania.
