The Special Court will start operating from January 1st, 2017, as confirmed on their official website.
Kosovo institution have welcomed the agreement for Netherlands to become the country where this court will have its see. The agreement guarantees the law foundations for the Special Chambers in Kosovo.
The Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution, David Schwendiman, has visited Kosovo and Serbia the past month, where he met with high-level international authorities and local ones.
The Special Court will treat accusations for war crimes from 1999 to 2000, and will be funded by the European Union. It respects the laws of Kosovo, although the Prosecutors and Judges will come from the international community.
