Ekaterina Trendafilova, President of the Special Court, declared during her first visit in Kosovo that the court led by her will be impartial and independent.
She confirmed that no charged had been raised yet against the former Kosovo Liberation Army, rejecting this way the claims from the media.
During a speech with representatives of the Civil Society, Trendafilova offered details about the functionality of this court.
“Specialized Chambers will investigate war crimes to offer fair trials, by judging individuals and not organizations. The Specialized Crimes respect equality for rights of victims”, Trendafilova declared, adding that they would pay special attention to the rights of suspects, victims, and protected witnesses.
