Kosovo Serbs voted for the Serbian President. Citizens have regained trust, but politics is still blocked by boycotts.
The OSCE allowed them to vote in ballot boxes that are usually counted in Serbia. There used to be conflicts, but this time Serbs voted and they hope Belgrade will help them for a better life.
“We hear a lot of promises, but we don’t know what will be fulfilled”, one resident said.
Their hopes are on Alexandar Vucic, who has negotiated frequently on their behalf.
Now elected President, Vucic will be responsible for the dialogue with Prishtina in Brussels, a relation that recently has seen much tension.
After boycotting for some time, the Serbian MPs returned in the Kosovo Parliament. MP Nenad Rasic said for Top Channel that the ties with Belgrade are not only emotional, but also economic. “The talks will have another weight. The agreements of Brussels will be better and will be implemented more quickly. We need reconciliation with Albanians”, said the Serbian List MP.
Analyst Behlul Beqaj from Prishtina said that the talks will not be easy, since most of the people are not happy with the results of this dialogue so far. “There will be divisions, especially for the implementation of the Serbian Communes Association”, Beqaj said.
