Kosovo-Serbia talks, Thaci: “I expect lower tensions”

01/02/2017 09:00

Both Kosovo and Serbian Prime Ministers will sit again today in Brussels
in a meeting mediated by EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini,
after the tensions created by the train with nationalistic slogans that
was sent from Belgrade to Mitrovica, and which was stopped by Kosovo
forces.

Both Prime Ministers held a phone conversation before the meeting, with the purpose to reduce tension.

Thaci declared for Radio Free Europe that he expects tensions between Kosovo and Serbia to lower even further, and he hopes that the dialogue will bring reconciliation and cooperation.

The EU High Representative of Foreign Policy and Security, Federica Mogherini, asked both country leaders to keep their promise and leave tensions behind.

The dialogue is undergoing, but some of the agreements that were already reached between both parties have not been implemented yet, including the park on the Iber bridge in Mitrovica, and also the creation of an Association of Serbian communes.
