The Kosovo election authorities have identified irregularities in the
Fushe-Kosova ballot counting center. The coordinator of the Result and
Counting Center, Burim Ahmetaj, recommended the Central Election
Commission to not include 18 ballot boxes in the announcement of the
preliminary results, and sent 14 ballot boxes for a revote.
“In some cases the secrecy envelopes don’t have the data of voters, and in other cases there are is the data, but they haven’t been signed at the Final Voters List. These are problems that cannot allow a regular procedure. We are not dealing with a big number, but they should not be included in the final results for lack of data and for lack of signatures”, Burim Ahmetaj declared.
Ahmetaj also showed that there have been empty forms inside the materials, or cases of intervention. For this reason, the 14 ballot boxes will be recounted. The Self-Determination Movement representative at the Central Election Commission, Adnan Rustemi, declared that the observers of political parties should be prsent in this process. Florian Dushi, member of the Democratic League of Kosovo at CEC also requested an investigation for finding the reason of these problems.
Another issue reported at the CEC was that some people might have voted twice, for which the CEC Chairwoman warned a criminal prosecution.
“After verifying who has voted more than once, the list with these names will go to the Prosecution, same as in 2013. Certainly, first we will identify them very carefully”, declared Valdete Daka, Chairwoman of the CEC.
