Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga appreciated the agreement that was
reached between the governments of Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by KFOR.
According to RTK, the President declares that this is a reasonable action that unblocks the situation that was created in the three Kosovo northern communes and the border checkpoints no.1 and 31.
“We appreciate the decision of the government of Kosovo for implementing reciprocity measures for Serbian goods and the order issued by the Prime Minister of Kosovo for sending a Special Police unit in order to allow Kosovo Customs to implement the order and to control the goods that enter in our territory. This was a just and coordinated decision, and as such it is legal for the sovereign state of Kosovo”, says the declaration of Kosovo President Spokesperson, Arbër Vllahiu.
According to this declaration, “roadblocks and the attempts for opposing Kosovo government’s measures and the violation of law and order would have caused a humanitarian crisis in this part of the territory, and would have aggravated the relations between the citizens of this Kosovo territory”.
