The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, visited the city of Kukes to honor its citizens with the Freedom Order.
The medal was handed over by President Thaci with the motivation “for contributing and welcoming nature of the city during the war”.
“Thanks to the solidarity and patriotic sentiment of Kukes and all over Albania, the Kosovo citizens who were evicted from their homes during war found the warmth of the Albanian families. The citizens of Kukes, Has and Tropoja are heroes of the Kosovo freedom and independence”, Thaci declared.
The Mayor of Kukes, Bashkim Shehu, said that this is a special day for the town.
