2014 will find Kosovo once again as the poorest country in the region.
According to the new report of the World Bank, 10.2% of the Kosovo
citizens live in extreme poverty.
The World Bank states that Kosovo keeps its dependence from remittances, while the financial sector is stable. While the banking deposits are solid, loans have reduced, according to World Bank.
The prediction for Kosovo is that there will be a solid economic growth in 2014, but insufficient to create new jobs.
“This is vital for Kosovo. The creation of a good climate for attracting investments, creating a stability and not only fiscal economy, which is key, but also an economic stability and better image through the world, so that foreign investors will not be intimidated to come in Kosovo”, declared Agim Demukaj, economist of the World Bank in Prishtina.
The report shows that the budget incomes did not go according to the plan, but the fiscal deficit is still under contol and the fiscal rules are being implemented.
For export, World Bank says that it has increased in 2013, while some food imports are being replaced. The challenge remains the high unemployment, poverty and the fact that Kosovo does not participate in the job market.
