The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, cancelled the visit he had planned to the USA this January 11th, because the US Embassy didn’t issue a visa, according to Radio Free Europe, which quotes an official of the National Guard in Iowa.

Haradinaj had planned to attend the event organized by the National Guard Commander in this state, Timothy E. Orr.

Colonel Greg Hapgood, Spokesperson of the Iowa National Guard, is quoted of having said that “Prime Minister Haradinaj was invited by General Orr, but unfortunately he couldn’t get a visa and join us”.

According to Hapgood, Haradinaj will be replaced by the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli.

However, Halil Matoshi, from the cabinet of Prime Minister Haradinaj, said for “Radio Free Europe” that the entire case is still undergoing procedures.

“We don’t have any positive or negative confirmation”, he commented.

Media outlets in Prishtina reported this Sunday that the US Embassy had refused to issue a travel visa for Prime Minister Haradinaj. Haradinaj said that he is still waiting for the visa.

This event is a follow-up of the critics launched by the international community after Kosovo lawmakers attempted to change the law that allows the creation of the Special Court for War Crimes.
