Kosovo opposition divided

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative for
Kosovo have decided to create an opposition coalition, confirming this
way their divergences with the biggest opposition party, the
Self-Determination Movement.

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the AAK, and Fatmir Limaj, aim to attract members of the civil society and prepare the joint list for the next elections.

However, the division between the Kosovo opposition parties starts weeks ago, after the March 26th protest was canceled. Voices that the opposition parties are discussing with the parties in power became stronger after Donika Kadaj Bujupi, Head of the AAK Parliamentary Group, left the party and joined the Self-Determination Movement.

The Self-Determination came up with a proposition of “united alternatives” which aims to have the civil society get together with politics, a move similar to the one presented by AAK and Nisma.

This is the biggest division since LDK left the group (VLAN) that was created after the June elections, in order to stop the PDK from coming to power.
