The Kosovo citizens will vote on June 8th for the early elections. The
President Atifete Jahjaga published the decree for the elections after
meeting all political parties’ subjects.
“With the voting of the Parliament of Kosovo, our country has started an important electoral process that will decide about its democratic future. After a consultation with the political parties and the Central Election Commission, and based on my Constitutional competences, I have decided that the date of early elections is June 8th”, Jahjaga declared.
The President appealed the Kosovo political parties to conduct a decent campaign and invited citizens to vote massively.
The President declared that in the days to come they will appeal the European Union mechanisms to send observers for monitoring the elections.
The Central Election Commission has started preparing for the elections, while for the Northern part of the country Kosovo will keep asking help from abroad.
“We will invite the OSCE to be part of the organization of elections in the northern part of the country, but their role will not the same as in the local elections. They will have a smaller role”, declared the Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission, Valdete Daka.
The Central Election Commission Secretariat has started some technical preparations and the ballots should be ready by June 8th.
Since these are early elections, the electoral campaign will be shorter.
