Kosovo customs withdrawn

The promise of this took place after a meeting held with representatives of the customs authorities of Kosovo businesses. Customs spokesman, Adriatic Stavileci said that the business required returning to the old methods of clearance of goods. This, according to him, is impossible to do. But Customs has agreed to allow the simplified procedure which permits businesses to set a deadline for its use and to create opportunities for other businesses to apply for the same thing.

The simplified procedure is expected to be applied in a selective manner, as to be equipped with it; the businesses must meet certain conditions.

“One of business requirements has been the demand to continue with the old manner, but it is impossible. However, the simplified procedure for companies that have used it, were not interrupted. It was interrupted only for companies that have not met the conditions of Kosovo Customs. Some of the conditions are that the company should be a regular one, shouldn’t have customs offenses, be a company that has declared goods correctly in recent years and the other ones before,” says Adriatic Stavileci, Kosovo Customs spokesperson.

One of the main importers of goods from Albania into Kosovo, Yzer Gashi said that the meeting with the Acting Director of Kosovo Customs has represented businesses that bring from Albania mainly construction material. He said that now these businesses will not be forced to pay a tax of 40 euros at the customs terminal, as with the simplified procedure, clearance of goods is performed at the border.

Speaking by phone, this business representative added that from the meeting is understood that companies have time limits for using the old procedure and that it will always be in force for those companies that have regular business activity.
