The Constitutional Court in Kosovo has accepted the request of the opposition parties to review the Parliament voting that amended the country’s constitution in order to set up a Special Court which will investigate alleged war crimes committed after the 1999 Kosovo War.
The Court declared in a statement that had accepted the request from 24 opposition MPs and has requested all involved parties detailed information about the matter. The opposition appealed to the voting in parliament of the amendments saying the government should have consulted before with the Constitutional Court. An important role in the decision has also played the fact that the amendments were proceeded to parliament for a second time, after they failed to pass the first one.
