The respective Ministries of Finances of both Kosovo and Albania have
agreed to open a joint customs checkpoint at the Durres Port, which will
be used by Kosovo companies for importing Albanian goods.
“We need to agree with some concrete steps that we need to take until February 15th, to start a joint customs checkpoint in Durres for goods that are going to Kosovo”, said the Kosovo Minister of Finances, Avdullah Hoti.
Both governments have established a special work group that is identifying the trade barriers between both countries.
“We will take a look at every procedure that creates a cost and turn into an obstacle for trade exchanges”, Minister Ahmetaj said.
Both Ministers think this is the only way to encourage trade between Albania and Kosovo. They took advantage of this moment to answer to the public requests made by the respective chambers of commerces.
“We are against protectionist measures. Our duty is not create new obstacles, and remove the existing ones”, Minister Ahmetaj said.
