It will be impossible for the Macedonian government to realize the
project for deviating the Radika River, the source of which comes from
the territory of Kosovo.
The government of Kosovo will not approve a project that might damage Albania. The Kosovo Minister of Environment, Dardan Gashi, says that the Macedonian government have not made any official notification for Kosovo, which is unacceptable. In an interview for Top Channel, Gashi explained that no project can be realized unilaterally since the Radika River goes through three countries.
Gashi underlines that Kosovo will ask for a solution based on the international agreements.
On the other hand, Gashi reminds the project of the Zhuri Termocentral in Prizren, which has been blocked for the past 10 years by Albania.
“This project could guarantee a considerable amount of energy and it has been blocked for the past 10 years. We have agreed with the new government to resolve this situation”, Gashi declared.
The Macedonian project foresees the construction of an aqueduct for Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania, for building a hydropower plant in Lukova, but by deviating the Radika River, which pours in the Drin cascade.
