Kosovo, 7th anniversary of independence. Leaders honor the fallen

Kosovo celebrates the 7th anniversary of independence. The official
agenda has started with the political and government leaders, who paid
homage at the late President, Ibrahim Rugova.

President Atifete Jahjaga declared that these homage honor the man who help creating the independence, and added that Kosovo has a clear European perspective today.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, considered Rugova as the man who laid the foundations of independence.

“We honor his contribution for having a democratic state of which we can be proud of”, Mustafa declared.

The agenda continued with homage in honor of commander Adem Jashari, in Prekaz. President Jahjaga declared that she visited Prekaz to make the institutional and human honors for everyone who was sacrificed for independence.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo considered the Jashari family a symbol of the existence of Kosovo.

The leader of the AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, wished the Kosovo citizens and Albanian people a happy independence day: “I want to thank those who were sacrificed for this day, a day that we see as a message that a lost has still to be done. Same as we have done in more difficult times, we will find the strength to progress”, Haradinaj declared.

The Shota ensemble will perform later in the center of Prishtina. The government celebration agenda includes events and distribution of literary prices from the Ministry of Culture.

The Parliament will hold a solemn ceremony at 15:00. After a reception by the President and the Prime Minister, the celebration evening will be concluded with an organized fireworks show.
