Korce farmers lose unsold vegetables
24/03/2014 00:00
Huge quantities of apples and onions produced by the Korce farmers are
rotting without being sold, and also due to the lack of storage
capacities.
Farmers say that merchants prefer products from Kosovo and Macedonia, letting their product in stock, which are then damaged. Tons of potatoes were thrown in these villages that don’t have a chance to pack their products properly.
It seems impossible for farmers to pay for the packaging or conservation. Storage capabilities are very small in an area that produces huge quantities of goods.
