Kerry writes to Tahiri: Balkan summit, a critical importance for regional support

Kerry sent a letter to the Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri, in which he thanks Albania for the initiative against violent extremism.

“The Balkan summit, the first in the list of summits against Violent Extremism, was very important for the construction of regional support and will allow many governments to follow the example of Albania with concrete initiatives against violent extremism in the leaders’ meeting that will be held before the General Assembly of the UN at the White House in February. Civil Society, especially women and religious minorities, have a very important role against violent extremism”, underlined another high-rank official of the US State department.

Secretary Kerry underlined that only together, by cooperating between our governments, the civil society and the private sector, we can reach our joint goal and prevent the growth of violent extremism.
