The unstudied developments of Kamza Municipality in the north of Tirana have left the family of Lindita Haxhi in Valias of Kamzë without housing and without a rental bonus.
The municipality reportedly demolished his house under the pretext that it was going to build a public garden, and in order not to object, they ‘treated’ it as an apartament damaged by the 2019 earthquake.
The family was paid a rental bonus from government funds for the specified period of reconstruction, but after that they said “there are no more funds” and the family were not given social housing.
After 4 years of wandering around the doors of the municipality, the woman complained to the Fiks Fare program on Top Channel.
Lindita says that her house was demolished in 2020 to turn it into a public flower garden. She had a 1-story house and 300 square meters of land in Valias, and had even laid the foundations for another one.
At that time, the municipality had promised to give her another house, which never happened. Lindita tells Fiks Fare that for some time she was treated with a rent bonus, as “a family affected by the earthquake.”
The woman says that had built the house with the income from emigration as she had been working in Greece for years, and after the demolition she left for Germany.
Lindita held meetings with municipal officials who avoid her with various excuses.
After these developments, Fiks Fare went to Kamëz officials regarding the problem of Mrs. Lindita. Vice-president Rebeka Sulejmani admits that the municipality demolished the lady’s house to build a flower garden.
To the question that while the house was demolished by the municipality, why did the lady not benefit from the rent bonus of the reconstruction, the vice president excuses herself saying that she does not know her file well, but later gives a written answer to the journalists where she claims that the family was treated with a rent bonus as apartment “demolished due to the damage of the 2019 earthquake”, contrary to what she told reporters in the office, where she claimed that the house was demolished by the municipality itself.
