Kakavija border crossing was closed for 24 hours due to a strike at the Greek customs, while today the work has started normally with the reduced regime for 750 people per day, from 6 o’clock in the morning.
Those crossing the border are mostly seasonal workers who have a contract on the Greek side of the border.
It has not been easy for them either. Some indicate that they have been turned back by the Greek authorities days ago for various irregularities.
“I am going to Lamia, Greece. Three days ago I was turned back, I do not know what they took me out. The owner sent me all the letters necessary. Now I came back and did another swab test because 72 hours had passed”, says one of the Albanian citizens.
“The three of us are together. They came back to us a few days ago. They just told us to go away. We did not find out why. We did tests again and we will try it today.”
“I am going to Greece to work. At least I will work for two months and then come back again. I know they do other tests on the other side, I do not know what they will say. ”
On the transport of goods vehicles the circulation has been interrupted during the past 24 hours. The queue of vehicles this morning was almost 1 km long.
