Today ended the legal dispute between the Albanian writer, Ismail
Kadare, and Nexhmije Hoxha, the wife of the former Albanian dictator,
over the ownership of the original manuscript of Kadare’s book “Dimri i
Vetmise se Madhe”.

Kadare’s lawyer declared that Nexhmije Hoxha has lied when she says that she has communicated with the former director of the Archives, who is also the man who keeps Kadare’s biography.

She says that a series of documents show that Sinani (Archive Director) and Hoxha have exchanged letters only when the widow of the former Albanian dictator refused to hand over the original manuscript.

According to the lawyer, another important moment is the fact in which Nexhmije Hoxha in the book “My Life With Enver Hoxha” says that on October 17th, 1972, she has met Ismail Kadare. The book gives many details about the meeting, but not the fact that Kadare had given her the manyscript.

The lawyer says that Hoxha claims that the manuscript was given to her by Kadare exactly on that day.

The lawyer of Nexhmije Hoxha underlined that they are determined to resolve the issue privately and that they are ready to give the manuscript to the state archive, but not to Ismail Kadare.

Judge Bledar Abdullai declared that the hearing session of the trial ends here, and on October 3rd they will have to present the final conclusions regarding this issue.
