Justice still not done, say family members of Gërdec victims on 9th anniversary of the tragedy

9 years have passed since the tragic explosion on Gërdec, an incident who took the lives of 26 people, and injured hundreds. As they do every year, family members of the victims march towards the infamous site at noon to put flowers on the place where the fabric was set.

This year no one from politics was present at the event and relatives had a message for them. “I feel sorry for those who made these obelisks but do not show up here but are afraid”, Gëzim Deliu, relative of the victims said.

“There is no justice here, or we would have achieved something. They just keep taking their salaries and mind their own business”, he added.

Gëdeci today has changed and almost no sign has remained from the explosion from 9 years earlier. The only signs are two memorials put there from the Ministry of Defense and Vora Municipality.
