Lawyers demand to be part of the justice reform and to have a more significant influence in changes.
The Head of the Association of Criminal Lawyers, Saimir Visha, underlined that politics must understand that no changes can be made at the Criminal Code without taking the opinion of those who defend those who are accused.
“We will be part of every justice reform. We have supported it because we feel that we need a radical change not only based on the EU recommendation, but because we are those who touch the problems of justice”, Visha declared.
Visha raised the concern that lawyers have not been paid by Courts and Prosecution.
“Another problem is when lawyers work in difficult conditions, and have not been paid for three years. Imagine what is happening, if it is not enough that the payments are minimal”, Visha declared.
The meeting for the fifth anniversary of the Association for Criminal Lawyers continued with the presence of Prosecutors, Judges, representatives of the Advocacy Chambers of Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia, who underlined the guaranteeing of rights for every citizen who undergoes a judiciary trial.
