The Minister of Justice, Ylli Manjani, declared that the government’s
focus is to integrate the prisoners who were released today, after the
annual amnesty entered in effect.
“These people are reformed, and now they can integrate to our society as free people. They have served a prison sentence for what they have done under specific circumstances, but it doesn’t mean that they should be left aside by the rest of the population. This is not part of democracy. This is why I call the Albanian society to welcome these people”, Manjani said.
“When asked about former prisoners with palliative diseases, Minister Manjani said they were not part of the amnesty, but they are looking for other legal methods to treat them case by case.
731 prisoners have benefited from the government’s amnesty and left the prison cells today.
