In Tirana has started the conference of the Evidence Service, led by the
Minister of Justice, Eduard Halimi, who focused on the significance of
the electoral reform.

“The justice reform requires qualified majority laws. In this direction, the help and signals of the international partners are very important”, Halimi declared.

The Minister of Justice valued alternative sentencing as a successful mechanism in the justice reform.

He considered as unacceptable comparing and labeling an entire court as a criminal band.

The justice reform is one of the main criteria presented to Albania by the international factor, for progressing in the EU integration road.

The open letter that the European MPs, Eduard Kukan and Hannes Swoboda, sent to Prime Minister Berisha and the opposition leader Edi Rama, considered the justice reform a necessity.

The British ambassador in Tirana, Fiona McIlwham declared that a strong and independent justice is a key condition for the EU progress.

“The rule of law and justice are the core values of the UK and EU, the heart of a functional and successful democracy. A strong and independent judicial system is a request for Albania to progress in its EU membership road”, she declared.

In a justice conference that was held in Tirana one week ago, the former Albanian President, Alfred Mojsiu, declared that the most recent Constitutional amends were made in 2008 by only two political parties, and according to him, this is not right.
