The Minister of Justice, Nasip Naco, attended a visit in Athens,
representing Albania as the newest member of the European Organization
of Public Legislation, since its accession on June 25th.
Naco declared that the participation in this organization will help reinforcing the administrative capacities of Albania, and will influence justice reforms that are related to the EU integration process, especially for corruption and organized crime.
Yesterday Naco attended the inauguration ceremony of the “Justice Without Delays” project, where he appealed judges to take all necessary measures to avoid delaying trials.
The US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, who was present in this event, expressed his concern about the delays that are being identified today with the justice system, and underlined that these delays are caused by irresponsibility.
The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, said that the judiciary system should receive support from all political actors, and announced a meeting for the judiciary reform on October 6th.
The OSCE Ambassador to Tirana, Florion Raunig, underlined that the delayed trials are damaging the judiciary system in Albania and reflect consequences on citizens.
