The outgoing President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, said that refusing the negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia, meant that the EU was not keeping a promise to these countries.
“If our strength is on the fact that someone can count on us for preserving the world order, founded on multilateral regulations, our weakness is on the fact that we don’t keep our promises to our allies and international partners”, Juncker said.
“The best example is our policy for enlargement and the shameful inability of the European leaders to keep their promises for opening the EU accession negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia after they kept their promises”, Juncker said.
