Juncker: “Balkan belongs to the EU, when conditions will be met individually”

His tour started a few weeks after the Commission presented the enlargement strategy for Western Balkan.

During the visit that took him to Serbia, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Bulgaria, Juncker reiterated the messages presented in the strategy for the further integration of the region, underlining the importance of European values.

Once again, the European leader focused on the idea of surpassing Balkan obstacles before accession and fulfilling the main criteria such as the fight against corruption, the rule of law, border disagreements and reconciliation.

The EU, according to the EC President, is open for new accession only when the countries have fulfilled the criteria individually.
