Judicial system on holidays

The working season of the Albanian justice ended this Friday, with the
case of Gerdec, for restarting in September. But the Gerdec trial
did not continue, due to the absence of some defending lawyers and
defendants.

This process with more than 160 sessions since 2009, has not been able to finalize the pretenses of the Prosecution.

During June and July, the court stalled with the interrogation of the defendants, and the evidence of the prosecution has not been filed yet. From last July and until this Friday, the Albanian court held 60 sessions for Gerdec. The Culmination was the house arrest measure for four defendants, a change that came after the expiration of the detention deadlines before the trial.

The Albanian justice has postponed to autumn even the court against the former Deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta and many other cases of public interest. The justice has not been able to give a final verdict during this working year for dangerous mobs such as that of Cerrik, Durres and the one of Dritan Dajti. The only sensational decisions for such cases were the life sentence of Aldo Bare, although only from one court degrees, and the sentence against the Qafe Gjashta band. The decision against this band is not definitive either, because the Court of Appeals is expected to announce its judgment this September.

In August, the Criminal Court and that of Serious Crimes will be opened only for assessing security measures, for all criminal acts and persons that will be arrested or accused.
