Judges divided before Vetting Law vote

20/12/2016 00:00

This Wednesday and Thursday are decisive for the Vetting Law. Members of
the Constitutional Court will decide if the law is constitutional or if
it violates human rights.

Eight constitutional judges will meet behind closed doors this Thursday, and each of them will give their opinion. The decision will then be voted.

Based on the Constitutional Court law, a verdict needs five votes. Abstaining is not an option.

A high diplomatic sources said that four judges are in favor, two want to pass it, but with minor changes, and two are against. If this doesn’t change, the Democratic Party request may be rejected.
