Judges before vetting law: “We must be part of the process started by DP”

The Union of Justice requested to be registered as interested party in
the reviewing of the complaint filed by the Democratic Party, who had
earlier requested the suspension of the vetting law.

If judges will be in favor or against the vetting law, this will be decided at the assembly meeting on November 4th, summoned for this cause.

“Since this law affects the interests of the Union, the Board of Albanian Judges decided to register as an interested party”, said Gert Hoxha, Chairman of the Union.

When asked what affects their interests, Hoxha said that he will not give details without the Constitutional Court verdict and before the extraordinary assembly of the Union of Judges.

Prosecutors, in the meanwhile, are collecting signatures as interested party. Same as Judges, they will gather on November 5th for a conclusion on the vetting law.

When asked by Top Channel if there are difficulties with gathering the signatures, the Head of the Union said that this is a very difficult process and time is running out. “Some persons, maybe Prosecutors, have requested the respective applications but they were rejected because they were not ready to wait for the institution”, Hoxha said.

He requested that the commissioner for protecting personal data needs to be activated, since the media is publishing personal data of children and their relatives.
