The journalists held a protest in front of the Tirana Police Directory
one day after journalist Dashamir Bicaky and two of his colleagues,
Bledi Gilaj and Thimi Samarxhi, where hit and threatened by the
bodyguards of the Cement Factory director, Charls Bouri.
“I reported the attack to the Police District no. 3, and I gave the details that I could”, declared journalist Bledi Gilaj.
“This will serve as a message for the other journalists. We must be united for fighting the threats and violence against us”, declared journalist Thimi Samarxhi.
Aleksander Cipa, Head of the Union of Journalists, declared:
“When journalists and citizens can be threatened and beaten in front of a law enforcing building, you can only imagine what happens with our journalists in rural areas”, he declared.
Dashamir Bicaku was attacked by Charls Bouri’s bodyguards, while he was taking photos when the Director of the Cement Factory was summoned at the police to release his declaration about the murder of Anuar Rizik.
