Albania and Kosovo are progressing with the realization of a joint energy market.
After the construction works of the Tirana-Prishtina 400 KV power connection line, Ministers Damian Gjiknuri and Fadil Ismajli signed an agreement for the construction of a new 110 KV power line between Kukes and Prizren.
Albania and Kosovo will prepare the legal and procedural terrain for the joint market, which is part of another agreement between the two ministers.
“We are on a good path. We are building the infrastructure and we have started the institutional cooperation. This agreement will lead us to that, but we need infrastructure. It is very important that this took place in these few months, and that we are starting to build the basic infrastructure of these markets”, declared the Albanian Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri.
“We cannot have a real market without physical capacities. I believe that we will have both of them after two years”, declared Fadil Ismajli, Kosovo Minister of Economic Development.
The creation of a joint electricity market was part of the meeting between the two governments in Prizren. The concretization of this project means using different natural sources of both countries for a stable electric power supply.
