During the trial for the January 21st events, when four opposition
protesters were killed in front of the Prime Minister’s office, the
former National Guard Commander, Ndrea Prendi, declared that they used
fake bullets in the beginning and then they were obliged to use live
bullets, but only with warning shots in the air.
“I also fired warning shots in the air with live bullets. We implemented the law for the functionality of the National Guard. We had information that the escort of the Prime Minister was about to get attacked, together with the President and the Prime Minister’s office”, Prendi declared.
According to him, the information for the attack against the Prime Ministry didn’t come from the Secret Service, but other sources.
