The first session of the January 21st case was to be held this Friday at
the Court of Appeal, but it was postponed to July 25th due to the
resignation of Judge Agron Papajani.

The defendants for the case of four murders were absent in the room, Agim Llupo and Ndrea Prendi, who are represented by Genc Gjokutaj.

The resignation came after the defesive lawyer asked for two of the judge panels to be removed, Agon Papajani and Fatos Qato, claiming that there’s conflict of interest.

According to the lawyer, Papajani cannot try this hcase since he was on the session that gave the security measure to the former National Guard Commander, Ndrea Prendti. While Fatos Qato is husband of the Socialist Party member, Merita Qato, who, according to Gjokutaj, was among the people that organized the January 21st protests.

The Tirana Court decision that found innocent the former National Guard commander, Ndrea Prendi, and also the National Guard soldier, Agim Llupo, the main suspects for the murder of four people on January 21st, was appealed at the Court of Tirana, which requested a trial against the former National Guard commander for the murder of Faik Myrtaj and Agim Llupo, and for the murder in dangerous circumstances of Hekuran Deda and Ziver Veizi.
