The new Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga chose the 3rd anniversary of Kosovo Constitution to visit Kosovo Security Forces.

As General Commander of the army, she was welcomed with a high rank ceremony and attended meetings with Agim Çeku, Minister of Security Forces of Kosovo, and General Sulejman Selimi.

After the meeting, Jahjaga avoided the media, receiving this way many critics by press analysts.

Several editors criticized Jahjaga, questioning if she is going to be only a technical president, or a president that will actually perform her duty.

“If she is going to be only a technical president, she doesn’t need to appear in front of the public opinion. It’s her call if she is going to be only a technical President, or if she will create the figure of a consensus president with this behavior, as she calls herself”, says Astrit Gashi, editor of newspaper “Zëri”.

Only Minister Çeku gave an announcement after the meetings, expressing his optimism for cooperation with the President, since they come both from the military ranks.

“Both of us have entered politics coming from the military. We have been educated along our career to serve the country and our people. I am convinced that we will have a close relationship”, Çeku declared.

During the meeting, Jahjaga offered Çeku support for improving Kosovo Security Forces conditions, in order to enable its membership firstly to regional military units and then to NATO.
