Italy sends documents for Ben Isufaj

The Prosecutor General declared they have received the documents of the
Italian justice for the extradition of Arben Isufaj, also known as Ben
Qimja.

The reaction comes from the Prosecution’s press release after Top Channel’s inquiry. This means that during these five days in which Isufaj will stay in prison, the Proecution should address to courts with a request for his extradition, based on the case of the Italian judiciary.

The Court of Appeal issued a decision this Friday through a panel made of Judges Fatmira Hajdari, Gramoz Levanaj and Edmond Gogo. They changed the security measure for Isufaj from prison to 30 days of detention. Since the businessman was arrested on March 9th, only nine days have remained until he gets free. The Prosecutors will have to ask his extradition in these five days.

The State Police declared that they arrested Ben Isufaj after an international arrest order given by Interpol Roma, which refers to a decision issued by the Court of Torino in 2010. Isufaj is wanted for drug traffic.

Arben Isufaj was found not guilty a few years ago for murder, due to lack of evidence. The Judge who gave this decision, Fatmira Hajdari, was also in the judge panel of the Court of Appeal that changed his security measure.

There have been no explanations if it is allowed that a judge decides for the same citizen in different cases.
