Italian media: “Albanians tied with the drug seized in Columbia”

The record breaking quantity of cocaine that was busted yesterday in
Columbia was to travel to various destinations, including Italy, where
it would be transported through a close cooperation between Columbian
and Albanian mafia families.

This is about a business of extraordinary proportions, say the Italian media, where the drug price increases after payements that Ndrangheta makes before it is distributed to Europe through Albania and neighboring areas.

“La Bamba”, as they call it, follows unimaginable paths from Southern America to Europe, passing the drug under the nose of the authorities, who, most of the times, don’t suspect about anything.

The drug that used to consumed by rich people only, with an average of 60 EUR per gram, today is available to everyone.

The Columbian police seized a record-breaking quantity of 8 tons of cocaine that were hidden in a plantation of banana near the coastline town of Turbo.

The narcotics, according to the local authorities, belonged to one of the most notorious gangs in the country, the Usuga clan.
