Italian Chief of Interforce: “Drug airplane didn’t fly through Albania. Only in Italy”

After a drug airplane was caught in Italy, which led to the arrest of
two Italian and two Albanian citizens, the Minister of Interior was
accused by the opposition of letting the airplane in the Albanian
territory to Italy and for having ties with the drug traffic.

The Chief of the Italian mission to Tirana, Michele Grillo, declared for Top Channel that the airplane that was seized in Italy had not went through Albania, since the network was through Italy.

“The airplane had taken off an airfield in Piemonte and flew to Puglia. Then it returned to Piemonte, flying only in the Italian territory. Two citizens were arrested, one Italian and one Albanian, both with former convictions. The airplane has not been through the Albanian territory. Albania and Italy have always cooperated and this has been confirmed with an operation against the drug traffic”, Grillo declared.

The Chief of the Interforce Mission was reserved about the operation of a few days ago that was concluded with the seizing of the Ukrainian airplane “Aeroprakt” and with the arrest of 14 persons. The airplane had transported 100 kg of cannabis from the Sevaster village of Vlore to Italy. When asked if this network had transported drugs other times, Grillo declared:

“As I underlined, the cooperation between the Italian and Albanian forces. Since the investigations are undergoing and secret, I cannot comment them”, Michele Grillo declared.
