The Italian Ambassador to Tirana, Alberto Cutillo, is optimistic that Albania will receive the EU accession negotiations this June.
However, he underlined that it is the job of the government to convince the skeptical countries until the decision is taken.
When asked about the progress of Albania with the Vetting Law, the Italian diplomat said that this is a deep reform that has no precedents in Europe.
According to him, the situation created at the Constitutional Court, where there are many vacancies right now, was also a consequence of the Vetting Law.
Cutillo didn’t give a direct answer about the investigation of the former Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri. He underlined that the process undergoing in Catania was not related to the former Interior Minister, and that he didn’t have detailed information on this matter.
