Robbery, oil and archeological discoveries. ISIS has an organization
that leaves behind Al Qaeda, thanks to 30.000 loyal fighters recruited
in the Middle East, Europe and Africa, and controls a territory with 8
million people.
However, their secret weapon are their funds. The self-declared caliphate is a terror factory that collects 2-3 million USD daily, according to the Italian newspaper “La Repubblica, which quotes a former US Treasury official, Matthew Levitt, confirming that ISIS is the richest extremist group that they have ever faced.
As shown by the materials taken in 160 USBs that were seized in Mosul by the Iraqi Secret Service, the Jihadists had 825 million dollars of cash in their vault. The funds collected by robberies, fines and donations in occupied regions made them untouchable by the economic sanctions that kneeled Osama Bin Laden.
However, the oil remains the main source of revenues for the terrorist organization. ISIS controls the Syrian oil wells in Deir al Zor, where they pump 30.000 to 70.000 barrels a day. The offensive in Iraq gives to extremists rich oil areas in northern Iraq, where 40.000 barrels are collected each day.
