Irish doctors to be trialed

The Tirana Prosecution concluded the investigations and sent the two
Irish doctors to court, who will be charged for careless treatment in
cooperation that resulted with the death of a 11 year old, Denis
Alimadhi.

The defendants Kevin Clarkson and Gerald Fahy have been under investigation without any arrest measure, and their trial might continue in their absence.

Prosecution say that the authorities have been informed for the death of Denis after an aesthetical surgery in the eye, at the French Hospital in Tirana.

The Prosecution adds that according to the coroner, doctors should have taken all measures to avoid a reaction from the anesthesia, as it happened in the case in question. These measures include even the malign hypothermia.

In the case of Denis, hypothermia appeared when the operation was almost over. The doctors should have used the specific treatment in this case, “Dentrolen”, which has not been implemented because the hospital didn’t have it.

The negligence of both doctors is that they failed to supply all medicaments before starting the operation.
