Irinej’s declaration in Tirana

Ilir Hoxholli, Head of the State Committee for Cults, criticized in an
interview for Top Channel the declarations of the Serbian Patriarch,
Irinej, calling them unacceptable in a country like Albania, where
religious harmony is one of the biggest values.

“This is a personal responsibility of Irinej, who created provocation among Albanians. We don’t need such declarations in this historic event. This interview has revolted the Albanian people, but it seems that he is living in the past, because we are in 2014 and Kosovo is already independent”, Hoxholli declared.

As for the reaction of Prime Minister Rama during the meeting with the patriarchs, Hoxholli explained what happened at the Prime Minister’s office.

“The Prime Minister expressed his revolt by saying that this is an abuse of the hospitality of the Albanian people. This stance was harsh enough, considering that these declarations could not damage the religious harmony among Albanians, and since the Albanian people will not fall prey to these provocations. Rama was very revolted during the meeting”, Hoxholli declared.

The Head of the State Committee for Cults reminds the Patriarch that during the entire history, no one has succeeded with the efforts to ruin the religious harmony between Albanians.

“The former Prime Minister of Montenegro, says that each time they tried to put the Shkoder Christians against the Shkoder Muslims, they always failed. These declarations will never be able to damage the religious harmony in our country. Irinej’s declaration was in vain for Albania”, Hoxholli declared.
