The Irish Minister for European Matters confirmed in Tirana his position for favoring the candidate status to Albania.
In his first official meeting in the Albanian capital with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, Paskal Donohoe underlined the positive progress of reforms in Albania, which should be taken in consideration for giving the status, confirming this way the position in favor held by his country.
As one of the states that signed the letter sent to the European Council in December, Bushati thanked the support of Ireland and underlined the importance of the European Integration process for Albania.
The Albanian Foreign Minister expressed his optimism that Albania will receive the candidate status in June.
The Irish Minister continued his meeting tour with the Albanian Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, who declared that the reforms will continue with the same pace, regardless of the decision taken on December.
“The government and the Albanian government are fully committed in serving to the well being of the Albanian citizens”, Meta declared.
