The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared form Vienna that he isn’t surprised by the declaration of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, who called Albania “a small and diabolic country”, due to the decision of our country to shelter 3000 members of the Iranian opposition.

In a direct interview on Top Channel’s main news edition, Edi Rama told journalist Muhamed Veliu that Albania’s alliance with the US is not done by contributing with rockets and bombs, but by contributing with a humanitarian operation, by sheltering the mujahideen.

“I am not surprised by the declaration in question. Albania has done the right thing, based on our tradition, by respecting our strategic alliance with the USA, and also because we are not contributing to this alliance with rockets and bombs, but we are contributing by offering a humanitarian operation for a group of people threatened by a dictatorial regime”, Rama declared.

In order to reassure the Albanian citizens as regards our country’s security, Rama said that the USA is very committed in this aspect.

“As regards the security aspect, our actions are closely coordinated with the USA. There is always concern when the situation is troubling a dictatorship, especially a dictatorship like that of Iran. There are moments when we need to take; there are moments when we need to give. My message to the Albanian people is that they should not be concerned, and that the USA are very committed to the security of our country”, Rama declared.
